IS THIS WORKBOOK FOR YOU?
Keep reading and find out!

If you are like most successful people I know who have a great track record in
their careers and have just landed the perfect new job… you are filled with a
mix of emotions.
On the one hand…
• You’re excited about the new opportunity and chance to prove your worth.
• You’re up for the challenge and opportunity to learn in this new role.
• You are intrigued by the people with whom you’ll be working.
• You like what you’ve seen of the organization culture.
At the same time, many of you are secretly saying to yourself…
• Yike! I’ve sold myself into a job that’s more than I can do. I’m sure I’m
going to fail.
• I’ve got way too much to do to get up to speed and do my job. I’ll never be
able to get it all done!
• Oh dear! They’re going to find out that I don’t know as much as I’ve told them
I know.
• My new direct reports are depending on me and I don’t know what I’m doing or
how to help them.
• I have no supporters where I’m going. I’ll be alone.
• This place might not really be like they’ve been saying it is and I might be
miserable in the new culture.
• I may have made a mistake in choosing this job and yet the change is causing
so much disruption to my family that I can’t go back now—I may be stuck.
• I have no one to tell how scared I am and I have to keep my game face on…
everywhere.
If this sounds like you, then congratulations; not only have you landed a
challenging and exciting new job, but you are human too! This workbook was
written for those of us who are human—filled with ambition and eagerness to
learn, as well as having very real fears and human frailties.
There are many excellent leadership books available that are written about the
onboarding timeframe and ideas for ensuring success—both for the new leader and
for the organization itself. Unfortunately; it’s my experience that most leaders
are simply unable to take enough time to absorb this material once they are
already in the thick of transition. My clients have taught me that it is
valuable for them to stop and take some time to reflect on their own learning
but that an overload of new information—on top of what they are ploughing
through about their new role and environment—is simply not practical.
This workbook has been designed to give you “small bites” of input followed by
questions to guide your own self-reflection.
YES, I want to Wow Them in my New Job!
SO HOW CAN I POSSIBLY WOW THEM AND NOT GET OVERWHELMED??
The subtitle of this Workbook is It’s Easier Than You Think because time and
again in my research, I found that what new hires think they need to demonstrate
in their first 90 days is very different from what the leaders of the hiring
organization are saying.
People make it tougher on themselves than it needs to be. The expectations they
place on themselves to create significant early wins, to transform organizations
and turn around businesses are simply not what the organization is typically
actually expecting in the first 3 months.
I’m eager to help you to shift from overwhelm, where you are acting on impulse
and guided by what you think you need to demonstrate to your new organization,
to feeling confident that you can…
1. take the time to listen
2. develop relationships
3. ask for help
4. be yourself
5. look after yourself.
And when you do these things… you will have successfully “Cleared the 90-Day
Hurdle”, wowed them at work and reduced your overwhelm.
I look forward to joining you in this journey!
